Match report Purley on Thames Sunday 2nds finished off their Millenium League campaign in style with a 70 run victory over Crown Wood. The Purley skipper won the toss for the second successive match and decided to bat. George Wheeler and debutant opener George Clarke got off to a solid start before George C was bowled for 7.George Wheeler and Paul Reber built some momentum and added 46 more runs in quick time before George holed out for 32. Purley had a middle order collapse and when Robert Clarke entered the arena the score was 112 for 5. Reber and Clarke put on 59 for the seventh wicket before Robert edged one behind and was out for 30. Purley eventually were all out for 187. After a good tea, Purley took to the field and soon had Crown Wood in trouble at 6 for 4 as Harry Bell produced a devastating spell to rip out the top order. Robbie Jeffery and George Wheeler took up the mantle and Crown Wood were soon 20 for 6 but Shahid and Rafaqat took the attack to task and were hitting the Purley bowlers around the ground. Rafaqat finally holed out to Robert Clarke on the mid-wicket boundary for 25 and when Shahid was bowled it appeared to be game over. A spirited defensive display by Dan Crinean held up the Purley victory but when Robert Clarke finally prised Dan out for 10, Crown Wood were all out for 117.
