Match report First league game of the season and an emphatic win. A gloomy start and they won the toss and chose to bat. Robert Clarke (3-1-6-0) and Thomas Axson (3-1-6-0) bowled a tight opening spell to keep them to 14-0 off 6 overs. James Denton and George Clarke then took a wicket each in their first overs. The 9th from James Denton produced a magnificent 3 wicket maiden. They went from 30-1 to 30-7 in the space of 3 overs. Some good catches were taken by James M, Jack, Ollie and Matthew Heslop behind the stumps. An 8th wicket partnership of 27 gave them a recovery. They finished on 74, with James Denton finishing with superb figures of 4-2-14-6, and 12 runs were from his 1st over. The rain started towards the end of their innings and continued to rain throughout our reply. However, Max (41no) and Rob Haggis (24no) never looked in any trouble and knocked off the runs in the 14th over. A very comfortable 10 wicket win, and a promising start to the season. Well done boys and thanks to all my parent helpers at the game.
