Match report Purley finally got their midweek campaign off the ground with a relatively simple victory over National Grid. The re-instated skipper, Barry Carter lost his fifth toss in six calls and National Grid elected to bat. A diving Paul Reber (yes I found it hard to believe too) at first slip accounted for the first wicket as Harry Bell produced a ball for Vikas to edge. Rohit then slashed a rising delivery off George Wheeler to Khan Azad at point and NG were 16 for 2. Cyril Cox and Khan Azad came into the attack and quickly mopped up the last seven wickets for 60 runs as NG were all out for 86 in 13 overs. Khan finished with four wickets and Cyril with three.
Purley opened with 1st team captain Pat Allen and 2nd team captain Pete Rackley much to the Chairmans consternation and they saw Purley home with 6 overs to spare as Pat hit 50 not out and Pete 26 not out. A much needed first midweek win of the season for the Potters at the fourth attempt...well done team.
