Match report
The Potters travelled to Stoke Green for their 2nd match of the TVL season. The weather was overcast but relatively warm. Again the Potters skipper lost the toss and Stoke Green elected to bat. The pitch looked under prepared and at the time I was not concerned about bowling first.
The Stoke Green batsman played well early on, they looked as though they had assessed what was needed on the wicket and applied themselves to bat for long periods without taking many risks. Nick got the first breakthrough thanks to a tumbling catch at mid-on by Reebs. The Potters bowled far too many loose deliveries, giving cheap runs away with inaccurate bowling which could not be afforded on such a wicket. Some impressive spells from Cyril, Rahu and Robbie helped limit the scoring. Unfortunately we lost control in the last few overs to allow Stoke Green to declare after 51 overs on 221-4.
The Potters reply could not of started worse, the skipper was bowled first ball, soon followed by Lemar and Nick. Reebs and Robbie batted well to rebuild the innings but the pitch claimed its next victim when Reebs was out to a delivery that popped from a good length. The injured Amit came in at number 7 and played an impressive counter attacking innings. The wickets of Robbie, Amit and Caleb ended any chance of a Potters victory, we were eventually bowled out for 160 in 46.2 overs. Impressive bowling from Richard Parker who took 7 for 56 from 21.4 overs won the game for the newly promoted Stoke Green.
The Potters need to improve in all areas for next weeks game!
