Match report The Potters travelled to high flying Slough 2's for this weeks TVL Division 3a encounter. On a lovely warm sunny day the Potters captain lost the toss and we were put into the field.
We started well with Caleb bowling impressively and picking up a couple of early wickets. Good pressure was also provided by Robbie J. We reduced them to 83 for 8 in 27 overs before some late order resistance got Slough up to 126 all out from 41.5 overs. Special mention to Caleb who took 5 wickets for 46 runs in 18 overs.
After the tea break the Potters began their chase. It was never going to be easy as the wicket was a bit low and slow but was still very achievable if we batted decently. Unfortunately this did not happen! We suffered an early setback with Chris Priestley being bowled 3rd ball. Some good batting from Lemar seemed to settle some nerves but this ended sooner than hoped when he was caught down the leg side. Soon we were 39 for 5 in 10 overs and looking very much on the back foot. The skipper was trying to counter attack with some crisp boundaries but wickets kept tumbling at the other end. In the end we were bowled out for 99 in 29 overs with Nick the stranded batsman after a good fighting knock.
A very, very dissapointing batting display. A combination of good bowling from Slough and some poor thinking on the part of some of our batsman led to this poor display. Hopefully next week we will be able to put some of these problems right so that we can get this season started!!!
