Match report Purley skipper for the day, Dan Barclay won the toss and elected to bat on what looked a decent track. The decision looked a poor one as some tight Harefield 3 bowling restricted Purley to 18 for 2 off 16 overs. George 'Howard' Wheeler set about the Harefield attack and was well supported by first Steve Purser before he top edged to square leg for 15 and then Mark Nash before he was bowled for 35 with the score on 146 for 4. George Wheeler hooked for a 6 to bring up his ton but was soon out to a tired looking shot for 102. Andrew Clarke ended up 30 not out as a flurry of quick wickets meant that Purley finished on 217 for 8 off 52 overs. Purley got off to a dream start as Andrew Bailey struck in the 2nd over to leave Harefield 0 for 1 but good 2nd, 3rd & 4th wicket partnerships boosted Harefield's chances of victory. The wickets were shared around although Mark Nash bowled 15 overs non-stop and claimed 2 for 59 whilst George Clarke clung on at slip to dismiss Howard Lippiatt for 80. Harefield 3 eventually finished 18 short on 199 for 8 so a winning draw for Purley who claimed 14 points.
