Farnham Common v Purley on Thames CC Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 25 May 2013 at 1300
Purley on Thames CC Lost by 5 wickets
Match report
Purley won the toss and elected to bat. A superb start was made by the openers putting on 81 for the first wicket. (It could have been worse had luck not been on Gavins side). Priestley and Pandey followed fairly soon after and when Gautham was run out we were 4 down with 100 on the board. Dan and Max dug in to put on another 50 runs before Dan was out bowled. When Bailey came to the crease the run rate accelerated with a few lusty blows for 6. We ended on 212 giving us maximum batting points - the target for the day.
We opened the bowling with the old ball and Barry and Sam bowled brilliantly to keep the run rate down. However, Farnham batted well and were keeping up with the run rate, hitting boundaries when they needed to. New recruit Wasim bowled particularly well with a newish ball. Farnham opener Dibsdall batted throughout the inning, hitting a 4 to bring up his 100 and winning the game.
A great days cricket and 12 points. We'll take that.
