Princes Risborough v Purley on Thames CC Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 22 Jun 2013 at 1300

Match report
After driving through a downpour on the way to their latest division 5A encounter at Princes Risborough it was amazing to see that the ground was mainly dry and we started on time. Princes Risborough won the toss and elected to field. Gautham Kamath and Peter Rackley put on a good opening stand of 47 before Gautham was adjudged LBW for 23. Pete battled on before he was caught for 39 with the score on 87. Skipper James Measham was following on from his previous knock of 101 as he cruised past 50 once again on his way to an unbeaten 77. At the other end Dan Barclay batted aggressively to push the total towards 200 but he went caught on the long off boundary for 28 which meant the introduction of pinch-hitter Alex Clough who thundered his first ball for 6 and he followed that with a few more lusty blows as Purley on Thames made it to 239 for 4 off 52 overs. After a good tea the Purley bowlers got off to a flying start as both openers were dispatched thanks to Alex Clough and Dave Lincoln and Princes Risborough were 15 for 2. Mark Shimmin came in at number 4 and took a shining to the bowling of Barry Carter as he moved onto 63 but he was outfoxed by the leg-spin of George Clarke and the quick hands of brother wicket-keeper Andrew Clarke as he was stumped. Alex Clough returned to the attack and struck twice in a few balls to leave PR on 121 for 5 and Purley were thinking this could be their first win of the season, Barry Carter celebrated in “fine” style as possibly the worst ball of the day resulted in a one-handed caught and bowled to reduce them to 126 for 6 but a fine knock of 49 by Hitchcock meant that Purley had to settle for a winning draw and 14 points as Princes Risborough finished on 205 for 8 off 48 overs.
