Match report The Potters travelled to local rivals Theale and Tilehurst for a warm up match before the start of the League season. With the weather glorious leading up to the match it was no surprise that when we arrived at Theale we were met with hale stones!!!
The captains agreed on a 40 over a side match (win/lose), the Potters captain called correctly and chose to bat first. The Potters batted well throughout their innings with Amit scoring an excellent 97 and Reber scoring 62 in a 2nd wicket partnership worth 154. After some further hale showers Purley agreed to end their innings after 33.1 overs scoring 175.
Theale were left to chase 175 in 33 overs. The Potters opening attack, Lincoln and Jeffrey bowled excellently to increase the required rate. In the end the Potters managed to use all 10 bowlers so that everyone got a good practice. Some good bowling from Pahi and George led to them taking 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Add to that 2 runs out, meaning Theale ended 153 for 7 from their 33 overs.
A good performance from the Potters with the majority of the team playing their first match of the season. Some sloppy fielding was expected and with a long season to come it is expected that the fielding will only get better!!!
