Match report A rain delayed start meant the captains agreed a 40 over per side game. Purley won the toss and elected to bat, which after the first ball didn't seem like such a great idea. However a partnership of 102 between Priestley and Azad in the first 16 overs settled the nerves. At which point the heavens opened again and the covers went on again - so we had tea. The game was reduced to 30 overs, so Purser was sent in leaving Priestley in the warm clubhouse. Some more good batting displays (with Barclay retiring on 38) left Theale with a 194 run chase.
The Theale openers started well, hitting the ball solidly. The first wicket went down with a superb catch from Purser who chose to dive head first at the ball and use his face to break the fall. Continued good bowling from all the bowlers and a reasonable first game fielding display restricted Theale to 124 off their 30 overs.
