Match report Purley on Thames Sunday XI made it three wins out of three with a five wicket win over Theale & Tilehurst. The Purley skipper lost the toss for the second time in three matches and T&T elected to bat but when Barry Stroud was well caught in the slips off Dave Lincoln second ball of the innings it didn't look good. A fine 80 run partnership was finally ended by George Clarke who made Ramesh hit his own wicke, Theale then lost three more quick wickets thanks to some excellent bowling by the Clarke twins and some good keeping by Andrew Clarke. Robert finished with 3/12 off 6 overs and George 2/24 off 6 overs. A late rally by T&T took them to 141 for 7 off 44 overs. Purley quickly got into their stride as James Measham and Pete Rackley added 19 before James was bowled by young James Read for 9. Andrew Clarke quickly followed for 6 and when Pete Rackley edged behind the nerves were jangling at 50 for 3. Paul Reber hit his way to 48 before he got caught at short cover so it was left to George Clarke and Patrick Allen to see Purley home, which they duly did with George ending on 22 not out and Patrick 16 not out. A good win for Purley on a slightly warmer day to last week. Keep it going team!
