Bradfield v Purley on Thames CC Sunday XI on Sun 09 Jun 2013 at 1400
Purley on Thames CC Won by 35 runs
Match report
Purley on Thames Sunday XI remained unbeaten after they overcame Bradfield by 35 runs in a really good contest. I won the toss and elected to bat on a good looking track. The Purley openers Andrew Clarke and Ashley Hillier put on 51 for the first wicket before Andrew was bowled for 18. George Wheeler didn't hang around to long as he was LBW for only 5. Ashley Hillier made his maiden adult 50 with some cracking shots but was eventually bowled the next bowl as he played onto his wicket. Chris Priestley added a quick 75 aided well by James Measham who followed up his 101 yesterday with 23 before he was adjudged LBW for 23. Purley finally finished on 192 for 5 from their 35 overs. Bradfield set about their run chase from the off and quickly had 48 on the board from only 11 overs when I introduced Clive Kent into the attack and it paid dividends as he bowled Howel for 18, the very next over Vikram Kamath trapped Dave Filmer LBW for 0 and Purley sensed victory. Pringle and Jamie Stansfield set up about sowing a few seeds of doubt into the Purley players with some attacking shots but when leg-spinner George Clarke bowled Pringle for 38 it looked good. George finally got the important wicket of Jamie for 52 as he picked out Chris "safehands" Priestley on the long on boundary and it was only a matter of time. Jeff Hinds plugged away at the other end and was rewarded with two wickets in a good spell of 2 for 24 from 7 overs to leave Bradfield 35 runs short on 157 for 9.
