Match report
Purley on Thames CC Sunday XI entertained BBC Caversham for the first time. Purley won the toss and elected to bat on a good looking track. George Wheeler hit a career high score 168 not out which included 25 fours and 4 sixes out of a total score of 271 for 6 off 40 overs. Andrew Clarke scored 24 and Max Baker-Smith a quick fire 18 also contributed to the total. After a lovely tea, the Purley bowlers set about their task of restricting BBC Caversham below 271 which they did as they finished on 124 for 9 off 40 overs. Sam Woodhouse and Jack Mundell were the pick of the bowlers with three wickets each whilst George Clarke, Robert Clarke and Pete Rackley all finished with one wicket each. An enjoyable day in the sun for a change.
