Match report The Potters faced Datchet in the Village Cup at the Goosecroft on a pleasantly sunny day.
On a good looking track the Potters skipper won the toss and quickly chose to bat first. The Potters started well with Patrick and Jimmy putting on 87 for the 1st wicket. Once Patrick fell Jimmy soon followed leaving the Potters 89 for 2 at drinks. Good contributions from Robbie, Alex and Nick helped lift the total to a competitive 189 for 9 from 40 overs.
After having a lovely tea Datchet started their reply. Nick started well bowling with decent pace which caused the openers problems. Errol made a quick breakthrough to get ride of M George for 1, this however brought Datchet 1st team run machine T Alldis to the crease. Alldis took on the Potters pace attack and hit some big sixes. Alldis and Aeri put on a 87 run partnership for the 2nd wicket before Cyril came to the party. Cyril and Patrick helped slow things down and bring the Potters back into the game. Unfortunately Datchet recovered well and eventually got home for the loss of 5 wickets in the 36th over.
A good effort by the Potters against a very useful side. Better luck next year!
