Match report A second win for the 3rds on a blustery day at Ibis. The skipper won the toss and put them in. West Reading openers battled hard against some tight bowling from Mazhar, Harry and Pahi. Mazhar was unlucky not to take a wicket, having one dropped in the slips. We showed a lot of patience, as they reached 66 without loss in the 24th over. Nufail made the breakthrough with a good catch taken by 15 year old Mark Russell. We then had them 99-4 before they had a good 5th wicket partnership. Pahi bowled a good 12-over spell, claiming 1 wicket, before Kevin (3-12) and Harry (3-26) finished them off in the 41st over for 151. The skipper got a nasty knock to his finger whilst keeping, so sent in Mazhar and Kevin to open. They put on a good stand of 69 before Kevin got a great delivery that bowled him for 28. Pahi then skied one, the ball after hitting a lovely shot for 4. We were 4 down for 121, but Jack (36no) and 15 year old James Denton (11no) saw us reach their total comfortably in the 29th over. Jack hit two massive 6's and looked very assured, but it was James that hit the winning runs with a lovely off-drive for 4. Another good result but we need to tighten up our "extras" when bowling, as it could cost us in future games.
