Match report
The great British weather spoilt our chances of another victory. The skipper lost the toss and they chose to bowl. We lost James Denton(3), Rob Clarke(2) and then Kevin Denton(17) with the score on 39, as it looked a difficult track to bat on. The ball was keeping very low at times. Kirwin and Nufail steadied the ship before Kirwin was caught for 19, with the score on 59. However, the game then changed thanks to a superb partnership of 107 between Nufail(61) and Khan(43). Pahi hit a fluent 36 and the skipper 15 before declaring on 237-8 from 41 overs. The weather was threatening during the tea break but we started, and Harry bowled their skipper with the first ball. A good catch from Rob Clarke off Harry and they were 29-2. They then dug in and blocked many balls. Harry bowled 7 overs and took 2-3, with 4 maidens. Khan replaced Harry and was getting the ball to swing, and we then took 4 wickets for 1 run to leave them 45-7. The rain fell and we went off for 10 minutes. We returned and Nufail took the 8th wicket with the score on 49. The rain fell again and it got very dark so we went off again. After another 10 minutes it stopped raining but was still dark so the skipper had to bowl the spinners, Kevin and James Denton in order for us to try and get the game completed. Kevin took a wicket with the score on 81, but two overs later the rain lashed down, and we couldn't complete the game. We had to settle for a winning draw and 24 points. That 1 wicket we needed cost us 11 points which was extremely frustrating and disappointing, especially as our average will now drop! The players did superb and the positive is that we absolutely dominated the game aqain, but were unluckily beaten by the rain.
