Purley on Thames CC Saturday 3rd XI v Emmbrook & Bearwood 2 on Sat 03 Aug 2013 at 1330
Purley on Thames CC Won by 6 wickets
Match report
Another superb win in our pursuit of the Division 4 title. On another warm and humid day the skipper won the toss for the first time in weeks, and chose to field. Their openers played very well against some good bowling from Khan and Harry. They reached 51 before Khan got Carter to play on. Pahi was introduced and 3 quick wickets followed and they were 59-4. Our fielding was poor by our own standards today with some very easy dropped catches. Luckily the bowlers were hitting the stumps. Their middle order hit some lusty blows, but Nufail, Khan, Pahi and Mazhar got their rewards by bowling straight and we bowled them out for 129 in the 39th over. 8 out of the 10 wickets were bowled, with the one catch a reprieve for the skipper, as he had dropped a dolly earlier behind the stumps. Khan (4-29), Pahi (3-30) and Mazhar (2-11) were the pick of the bowlers. The rain came down during the tea break to give the skipper cause for concern, but it cleared up in time for the openers to take the field. Kevin and Khan opened and played very well against a very good opening attack. They put on 80 before Khan was bowled by Dozier for 33. Mazhar, Kirwin and James Denton soon followed before Rob Clarke came in with the score on 103-4. 27 runs needed and Rob attacked their bowling with a fine 24no to get us the win in the 28th over. Kevin remained 50no, a very solid innings to help guide us home. Three games left and we need to keep performing like this and our goal will be reached.
