Falkland A v Purley on Thames CC Potters Indoor League on Sun 08 Oct 2006 at 18:00
Purley on Thames CC Won 41 runs
Match report
Purley 'A' started the new Indoor League Season at Bradfield College in fine style, the first game of the evening saw Purley 'A' take on last years runners up Falkland 'A'. Purley captain Patrick Allen won the toss and chose to bat first, this backfired early on with the loss of opener Kevin Denton. Rob Makepeace and Jalil Sear however got quickly into their stride with regular 4's and 6's, they both retired on 25 with Purley well placed. Despite the quick dismissal of Indoor League debutant Raj Senniappan, Patrick Allen and Daniel Ret steadily upped the tempo with a flurry of 6's with Daniel Ret retiring on 25 and Patrick Allen out bowled for 23. Purley ending their 12 overs with a substantial score of 154.
The pressure of the imposing run rate got to the Falkland batsman with their chase in tatters after the second ball with a direct hit from Kevin Denton. Then some fine bowling from openers Raj Senniappan and Jalil Sear led to regular dismissals leaving Falkland with just one wicket remaining before they were half way through their innings. Some good resistance from Falkland batsman Jack Chapman (54) and an over of wides from the very rusty captain helped boost the Falkland total to 113 before Rob Makepeace ended it all with Chapman being caught on the wall by Jalil Sear.
