Match report In the U13 game at Compton last night Ashley Hillier took a hat-trick - a rare occurence (2 stumpings and an LBW).

In their first League game of the season the U13s batted first and scored 80 for 9 off 20 overs. Jack Purser retired on 30 and the whole team batted sensibly to support him - James McGiveron (9) and Alistair Haggis (6 not out) did particularly well.

A very strong Compton batting line up were at first restricted by tight bowling from Tom Purser, Jordan Seward and "Pedro" Saleem but Purley were to suffer from not taking early wickets. Despite an excellent fielding performance Compton were able to keep up a good scoring rate and seemed to be cruising to victory.

However the introduction of the Purley spinners, James Mcgiveron (1 wicket), Joe Stephens (2 wickets), Ashley Hillier (not Giles! - 3 wickets/hat trick) and Sam Woodhouse (1wicket) put a different complexion on the game with Comption losing 4 wickets with the game poised at a tie. But eventually Compton scored the winning run in the gathering darkness.

Well played both teams.

Batting: Jack Purser 30 retired not out, majic moment - Alistair Haggis fantastic lofted on drive for 4, all other batters supported and ran well.

Bowling : well done to all the bowlers, kept going / applied pressure to some good batsmen, only 2 wides !

Fielding - brilliant - no overthrows - EVERY throw backed up, no byes - well done Jack Purser (who also got 3 stumpings and a catch).
