Purley on Thames CC Saturday 1st XI v Henley 3 on Sat 31 May 2014 at 1pm
Purley on Thames CC Lost by 4 wickets
Match report
This week’s TVL fixture saw the Potters entertain Henley 3’s at the Goosecroft. The recent weather had left the pitch very wet so the toss was crucial. The Henley skipped called correctly and unsurprisingly bowled first.
The Potters were in trouble almost straight away with wickets tumbling. Scoring runs was very, very difficult with everything in the bowlers favour. In the end 68 all out was as much as the Potters could muster with Rahu and Reebs top scoring with 14. The Henley bowlers were disciplined with their lines and lengths, Dan Hayden had the best figures with 5 for 31.
Henley began their chase before tea and were soon in trouble at 12 for 3. The Purley bowling used the conditions well and more wickets followed after the tea break. The visitors fell to 23 for 5 but dropped catches cost the hosts and eventually Henley got home for a 4 wicket victory in 23 over’s.
