Match report The Potters entertained wwargrave for this weeks TVL fixture. A massive thunderstorm the night before had left the wicket soaked so the game was moved to next weeks wickets which was soft by playable.
The Potters skipper lost another important toss and this meant we were batting first. It was predictably tough and Potters were soon 11 for 3. Some good batting from Nev and Robbie lifted us to 63 for 3 from 20 overs, but a further collapse saw us in deep trouble at 66 for 6. It was left to the last wicket stand between Lemar and Andy Wheeler to get us up to something respectable. A 40 run stand lifted spirits and gout us 4 important batting points. We were bowled out in the 48th over for 130, Lemar top scoring with 35.
In the 2nd innings, the Potters decided to take the old ball. Wargrave attacked from the 1st ball with the first over going for 3 boundaries. The skipper soon pickeed up a wicket before the new ball was taken. Regular wickets left Wargrave in trouble at 100 for 7. Some fine bowling by Andy Wheeler (4 for 19) caused the wargrave batting line up severeproblems but there was not the same threat from the other end. Wargrave eventually reached the target in the 40th over to secure a 3 wicket win.
A dissapointing defeat for the Potters but a good fighting performance in the field. We need to make big improvements with the bat and the skipper needs to win a toss!
