Match report We travelled to Eversley for an important bottom of the table clash. On a beautiful, sunny day with a hard wicket and fast outfield there was only one choice at the toss. BAT!!!
The Potters started well with Joe and Nev playing some crisp shots. Nev was first to go for 16 and then came a Purley collapse. Chris, Reebs and Joe soon made their way back to the pavillion and we were struggling on 40 for 4. The skipper resisted but more wickets fell at the other end until number 9 Rahu entered the game at 110 for 7. The skipper and Rahu played sensibly and took advantage of the bad balls when they could. The skipper was eventually out for 60, but Rahu continued to pick up the scoring rate. Supported by Chard, Rahu took the score past 200, past 250 all the way up to 274 from our 52 overs. Rahu was not out on 115 - a fantastic knock which helped set a substantial target.
The Potters started with the old ball and picked up 1 early wicket. Eversley then took advantage of a great track, fast outfield and Potters side carrying a few injuries. The chase always looked on with boundaries coming regularly and the visitors lacked options in the attack with Rahu and Joe unable to bowl the overs the Potters badly needed. From the last over the home side needed just 4 runs and despite losing a wicket they reached the target with 3 balls and 4 wickets remaining.
A good game with plenty of runs and little joy for the bowlers. The Potters picked up 13 points. Big game next week, need a WIN!!!
