Purley on Thames CC Saturday 2nd XI v Hurst 2 on Sat 19 Jul 2014 at 1pm
Purley on Thames CC Won by 10 wickets
Match report
Purley on Thames Saturday 2nd XI made it five unbeaten with a comprehensive ten wicket win over Hurst 2. The Purley skipper won the toss and elected to field. Max Baker-Smith got us off to the perfect start as he tempted Kayser to edge the ball where Chris Priestley clung onto the first of his three catches in the gully. George Wheeler produced a devastating spell to rip out the middle order and when Cyril Cox and Barry Carter bowled tightly for the next 20 overs Hurst found it difficult to score as both Cyril and Barry took two wickets. Hurst finished on 121 for 9 from 52 overs. In reply Purley got off to a slow start but once skipper, James Measham got into the flow he was despatching the ball to all corners as his 88 not out included 19 fours. Pete Rackley held firm the other end to remain on 27 not out as Purley claimed 20 points for the win.
