Purley on Thames CC Lost by 25 runs

Match report Skipper Joe Durcan lost the toss and Bradfield chose to bat first on a slow flat pitch. Bradfield got off to a flyer thanks to wayward bowling and some good running. Some tight bowling from Joe Pollard, Tyler Robb and Jimmy Coggs stemmed the runs somewhat, but again we gave away too many extras in the form of wides and no balls. Bradfield finished on 105-5 from their 20 overs. In reply Purley lost Joe Pollard early and struggled to score in the face of some tight bowling and fielding. James Leach batted superbly for 28 (retired)and after a slow a slow start the skipper added 18 valuable runs. The slow run rate put pressure on the lower order and 3 unfortunate run outs lead to the innings petering out to 80- 6 from our 20 overs. Bradfield only scored 3 more runs than us off of the bat, but we conceded 22 more extras than they did. We have a couple of training sessions before our next game, so plenty to work on.
