Match report Looking for the first back to back wins of the season the Young Potters travelled to Mortimer West End on a blistering hot morning. The skipper won the toss and somewhat surprisingly elected to bat. James Leach (23) and Joe Booker (24) got us off to the best possible start with a well crafted opening stand of 45. Ollie Hazell added 12 runs (costing his Dad a few quid in the process) and Jimmy came in a to give the innings some late impetus with a couple of lusty blows. 127 for 7 was a competitive total, but with the short boundaries and lightning fast outfield it was still anyone's game. Purley got off to the best possible start with Jimmy (3-11)removing both openers in the first over. The MWE middle order fought back well with two players retiring unbeaten on 25 and 26 respectively. Tight bowling throughout the team restricted MWE's other batters well, with the other wicket takers been Joe Booker (1-12), Ollie Clift (1-2)and Jack Furnell (1-18). A much improved performance in terms of wides and no balls and a good win, albeit assisted by the retirement rule.
