Match report The match was delayed by 20 minutes due to a heavy downpour just before the game. I won the toss and put them in on a dubious looking wicket. I think my suspicions were justified as we took some early wickets and constantly found and missed edges. After another heavy downpour, we resumed an hour later with a reduced game of 40 overs. After the break, we continued where we left off, with Pahi and James Denton bowling particularly well. Their tailenders rallied a bit late on, but we bowled them out in 34 overs for 150, which is a very competitive total on this wicket.
After a really nice tea, we started our run chase with the Denton's Kevin and James, who put on 43 before Kevin was out, stumped. In came Smamill for his debut and after a quick 23, he was out bowled. After that, we had a mini collapse, with the middle order coming and going in quick succession. However, when Pahi and Sam Woodhouse came together, we started to settle, with both of them batting superbly to get us out of a hole. I must mention an injury to Pahi, who was hit on the head by a rising ball. Pahi continued with a bump the size of an egg, but was eventually out for an important 29. After Sam Woodhouse was out, 15 year old Sam Poulter and Jeff Hinds saw us home for a very bruising, hard fought victory. Special mention to James D and Pahi who both picked up 4 wickets and Sam Woodhouse for valuable 33. A great win played in a good spirit by both teams.
