Match report
The last game of the season saw the visit of promotion chasing Stratfield Turgis. On an overcast and cool day, Stratfield won the toss and batted. After a steady start they lost their skipper - Mark Walton in the 10th over, bowled by Pahi. They soon recovered with the opener Ormston and Dyson putting on a solid 50+ partnership. After Walton was out, bowled again by Pahi, Dyson and Millward batted well for 100+ partnership. After the partnership was broken by Sam Woodhouse, Pahi came to the fore with a superb bowling performance of 5 for 49. Incredibly all his victims were bowled. In the end they posted a challenging 237. After another nice tea, we began our run chase. The brothers Mohammed opened the innings and started steadily until Shamill was out for 12. After losing Nufail and Rifas in quick succession, Rizemy and Arshad put together a good partnership. However, having lost both of them and Luke Fifield it was left ,yet again, to Sam and Pahi to re-build the innings. They both batted sensibly and steadied the ship. After Pahi was unluckily given out LBW and a brief innings by Junees, it was left the skipper and Sam to play out the last few overs for a hard-earned draw. Not an ideal end to the season, but we consolidated a good 4th place, which considering the start we had, is a very commendable position. Let's hope next season we can do even better.
