Match report Purley on Thames Sunday friendly XI entertained Sutton Courtney for the first time on a hot, sun-kissed afternoon at the Goosecroft. Sutton Courtney called correctly and Purley were inserted on a soft and unpredictable track that had yielded just 120 runs for 16 wickets the day before. A good start by Ashley Hillier and Pete Rackley saw them to 45 before Pete gloved one to the keeper fro 14. Pahi was unlucky when he played on second ball for 1 and when Ashley was LBW for 29 after playing some great shots the Potters were in trouble on 69 for 4. Bilal Hasan and young Luke Fifield batted well to take the score to 102 when Bilal was bowled by the Sutton skipper for 31. The last ten overs produced 61 runs as Luke and Rob Palmer hit out and remained unbeaten on 23 and 29 respectively that gave Suttom Courtney a challenging 150 to win. Purley bowled well in the first ten overs as Rob Holman dismissed James Mathews for 2 in his opening over thanks to a diving one-handed catch by keeper Pete Rackley. Luke Wilkinson continued in wicket-taking mood as he had both big-hitters Elliott Mathews and Tom Mooring caught in the deep by Rob Palmer and Bilal Hasan just as Sutton Courtney were beginning to threaten. Some tidy bowling by Rob, Ashley Hillier and Pahi at the end saw Sutton Courtney finally all out for 127 in the 38th over to give the Potters a 22 run victory.
