Match report Purley travelled to an unlucky hunting ground, and when the Aldermaston skipper won the toss on a wicket affected by the storms of the previous day, the writing was on the wall. Purley soon lost Pete Rackley to a diving catch in the slips by Mark Whitlock for 8. Max Baker-Smith and James Denton then added 30 for the next wicket before James got a ball that stopped and he edged it to slip. Max and Andrew Clarke hit some lusty blows but when they were out for 30 and 37 respectively with 90 on the board, Purley had slumped to 90 for 6. Purley skipper, Barry Carter then hit 17 and with the help of young Paul Fifield who remained 3 not out we had reached 118 all out off 34.1 overs. In reply Aldermaston always looked like they were going to make the score and when Purley dropped Ed Pettit-Mills three times it was over very quickly as he bashed his way to 88 all out. The only wicket came when Hardy was caught by Pete Rackley for 16 but Aldermaston reached their total with 8 overs to spare to seal a comprehensive nine wicket win. Well done to youngsters Tom Wheeler, Luke Fifield and Paul Fifield who all performed well and thanks to the Aldermaston scorers who did a great job with both scorebooks.
