Match report
Purley on Thames 1st XI hosted Newbury 1st XI this week. Paul Reber won the toss and elected to bat first on an excellent looking track. The potters innings had a very steady start as they reached drinks for the loss of just one wicket. Lemar Maycock was out shortly after drinks having played very well for his 55. Reber moved the score board along with a quick 38 and the potters were well set on 129-2, The innings then collapsed as our middle order were unable to make any significant contribution. A sensible 13 not out from Mark Price was the only positive as the potters folded to 167 all out.
Purley took the old ball in the 2nd innings and Allen and Reber got into the Newbury batting reducing them to 36-4, taking two wickets each. The potters were unable to continue this momentum and some good middle order batting ensured Newbury got home, winning by 4 wickets.
