Match report The Saturday 2nd XI travelled to Farnham Common 2nds XI in Division 6B and were rewarded with a win.

Winning the toss, Purley skipper, Gavin Raw, chose to bat and his team backed him up with a total of 207 in 52 overs. After losing openers Barry Hall and Kevin Denton cheaply, Raj Senniappan (27) and Jeff Hinds (46) steadied the Purley innings before Lenny Dabreo top scored with a fine 77 ensuring a respectable total. L.Woodland took 4 wickets for the home side.

A good bowling performance from Purley restricted Farnham Common's early batsmen and only S.Wilcox (67) was able to threaten the Purley score. Shankar Subbiah (3 for 11) and Raj Senniappan (5 for 28) led the Purley bowling and the home side were dismissed for 171 in the 44th over.

An encouraging start to life in the Thames Valley League.
