Match report A proud day for the club as part of our 50th anniversary was rounded off by a 6 wicket win against the Thames Valley League Representative XI at the Goosecroft.
Heavy thunderstorms in the week leading up to the game almost put paid to the game but eventually a game was played although it had to be reduced to 35 overs due to a storm part way through!
TVL batted first and had reached 129 for 6 off 26 overs before the heavens opened, after some discussions with the umpires the game was reduced to 35 overs - upon resumption of play Purley on Thames ripped through the rest of the batting to leave TVL all out on 144 off 31.4 overs - pick of the bowling was Patrick Allen with 4 wickets - special mention also to youngsters Sam Jugg 2 wickets and Austyn Jackson 1 wicket as well as wily veteran Errol Masters weighing in with 2 top order victims.
Purley's reply was dominated by a 51 from Robert Clarke ably supported by hard hit 34not out from Andrew Clarke and not out 31 from all rounder Drew Jackson.
A great day, thank you to umpires Graham (grandad) Watkins and Ken Duggan, as well as a huge thank you to the Thames Valley League and their Representative XI.
