Match report Satish 118* and Ben Hardy 5/35 were the star performers in a hard fought win over local rivals Theale & Tilehurst.
After heavy morning raining a hot and sultry afternoon saw Purley win toss and field.
Early wickets from George Wellsteed (2/14) and tight supporting bowling saw T&T make slow progress, but 4th and 5th wicket partnerships threatened a score over 200.
Supported by some excellent catches Ben removed their opener and then their top scorer, taking 5/35 - 194 required to win.
Save for Satish our batsmen couldn’t get going, however, Satish’s clean hitting threatened a big score and so it transpired - 118 not out included some huge sixes and partnerships wit( those around him saw him close out game with 8 overs remaining.
9/9 - UTP!!!
