Match report Wow, what a rollercoaster of a game, but at the end it was T&T who were finally quiet and Purley left to celebrate an amazing victory.
T&T lost toss and were asked to bat on a dry and dusty pitch. Decision to bowl looked a bit questionable as T&T racked up 30 odd in first 3 overs. However, Saffat and Umar tightened their lines and 3 wickets fell in quick succession - smart catch by Lee and the first of two wordlies by George. Nick and Cyril bowled in tandem either side of drinks, runs dried up, wickets fell (Nick picking up two with the help of Umar at point and George at slip - even better than the first catch). T&T finished at 176 for 9 in 40 overs.
Ben and Alan got us off to a steady start against accurate bowling, 36 before first wicket fell and then 68 for the second. A flurry of wicket saw us 91/5 at drinks and the game finally balanced.
Patience was the order of the day, Nick built partnership of 23 with Umar and then the match winning one with Rupert - 51 for the 8th wicket. When Nick fell for 41 the target was down to 6 required. Plenty of nerves going into the last over and it was left to Saffat to score the winning boundary with 3 balls remaining.
Arguably the best win under my captaincy (and it's still very quiet in Theale).
