Match report Festival Report - the Potterers travelled to Valley End on a very hot day for the Annual Festival...

We played 3 games, losing 2 and winning 1.

In our first game we played Wallington TCF. Batting first Wallington scored 106 for 2 - NET 96. Potterers 82 for 4 - NET 62, so Wallington won by 34 runs. Steve Costello scoring 16 and Greg Santoro Fergusson 18 were our best contributors.

Against Lingfield Lightning we batted well to set a target of 96 for 0 - NET 96. In reply Lightning needed 17 off the last over to win - then 2 off the last ball from Greg - which went for a 6. Then the discussions began as the Lighting batter had hit the 6 off his 4th consecutive ball - transgressing the 3 balls and swap batter rule. The organisers then awarded the game to the Potterers and removed the last ball 6. Potterers 96 for 0 - NET 96, Lightning 104 for 2 - NET 94, so Potterers won by 2 runs. Rather unsatisfactory sadly. Julie Cook 16, and 14 a piece from Chris Larsen, Martin Sweeney and Greg Santoro Fergusson were the main contributors.

In the 3rd game - the skipper again lost the toss and Wimbledon Windmillers batted first scoring 93 for 5 - NET 67. We bowled and fielded really well to restrict the opposition to what we thought a gettable target. However our batting really struggled against a good bowling team and we rather subsided to 66 for 6 - NET 36 to lose by 32 runs. Chris Larson 2 wickets and Martin Sweeney were are main contributors.

Overall a good day but disappointing results.

Wallington TCF (winners of our group) beat Holyport in the final to take the title.

An enjoyable if slightly frustrating day - big thank you to Jill Larsen for scoring all our games and Nigel, Bob and Stewart umpiring a game each.
