Potterers won by 8 runs

The Potterers travelled to Holyport to take on the Tailenders, in a 10 a side game, on what to be another very hot day.

We lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Steve Costello and Stewart Waight got us off to a good start with an opening partnership of net 39 off the first 4 overs. The 2nd and 3rd batting pairs, Greg Santoro Fergusson and Jeff Russell (net 36 run partnership) and Bob Dawson and Martin Bishop (net 26 run partnership) kept up the innings momentum before a blistering net 75 run partnership between Julie Cook 42 (net 37) and Mark Allen (38) put us into a great position with 1 batting pair to go. Gill Amos (18) and skipper Colin Ainger (28), 46 run partnership, then cemented a good score of net 241.

In reply the hosts batted very well to reach 248 for 3 but finish 8 runs short.

A good game of cricket followed by an excellent tea (but not as good as ours!) - good contributions throughout the team but special mention to Julie Cook with her highest score of 42 and catch by Gill Amos in the last couple of overs to disrupt the Holyport scoring rate at a crucial time.
